What we examine

Five pillars.
No isolated decisions.

Each pillar is considered independently and alongside the others. Residency eligibility, investment quality and personal suitability are distinct questions; strength in one does not resolve the rest.

01

Regulatory alignment

Can the proposed route support your residency objective?

Evidence we examine

Current route requirements, investment or contribution documents, eligibility evidence, banking records and the legal assessment relevant to your application.

What this means for you

Your investment steps and residency obligations are planned together. Changes in law or administrative practice can affect a case, so assumptions and unresolved legal questions must be identified before commitment.

Ask: Which documents support eligibility, and what must remain true over time?

02

Capital structure & risk

Understand where a loss could arise.

Evidence we examine

Underlying exposures, leverage, concentration, capital seniority, security where applicable, valuation methods, fees and the assumptions behind projected returns.

What this means for you

We look at downside scenarios and your existing wealth, rather than relying on a strategy label. Capital preservation is an objective, not a guarantee. Some risks cannot be reliably quantified from the information available.

Ask: What happens if cash flows weaken, valuations fall or further funding is needed?

03

Liquidity & exit visibility

Separate the residency timeline from the return of capital.

Evidence we examine

Investment term, extension rights, transfer restrictions, redemption or distribution provisions, exit assumptions and the conditions under which cash may be paid.

What this means for you

A stated maturity date does not necessarily mean cash is available on that date. We examine the implications of a delayed exit and the liquidity you need elsewhere. A cultural contribution is a different economic decision: it is not a redeemable fund investment.

Ask: If capital remains committed for longer, does the plan still work for my family?

04

Governance & execution

Know who decides, who checks and who acts.

Evidence we examine

Manager and service-provider roles, regulatory status where relevant, decision rights, conflicts policies, oversight, reporting, track record and practical execution responsibilities.

What this means for you

You can distinguish investment management, legal work, banking and advisory coordination. Registration or supervision does not by itself establish suitability or guarantee returns. Clear responsibilities help keep practical steps moving.

Ask: Who is accountable for this step, and what evidence will I receive?

05

Client objective fit

Your wider life belongs in the analysis.

Evidence we examine

Risk tolerance and capacity for loss, liquidity needs, time horizon, family circumstances, existing assets, currency exposure, relocation plans and tax questions for the relevant specialists.

What this means for you

The shortlist should reflect your circumstances. We consider overlaps with your existing portfolio and the practical consequences for your family, including cross-border reporting and the level of ongoing support you need.

Ask: Why does this approach fit my situation better than the alternatives?

Regulatory starting points: AIMA’s investment residence requirements and the CMVM investor portal. Specific eligibility and legal or tax conclusions require assessment of your circumstances and the current documents.

The outcome of the review

A conclusion you
can question.

Our framework uses three outcomes, supported by reasoning across the five pillars. These are MFG Consultants’ assessments of alignment, not regulatory approvals, credit ratings or guarantees.

Aligned

A supported fit.

The evidence reviewed supports the agreed objectives, with risks and trade-offs that the client understands. The decision remains subject to the applicable documents and execution requirements.

Conditionally aligned

Resolve the conditions.

A potential fit depends on specified clarification or action. We identify the open issue, the evidence needed and who should resolve it before the relevant commitment.

Not aligned

Reconsider the route.

A material mismatch or unresolved concern means the option does not support the present brief. We explain the reason and explore alternatives, including deferring a decision.

For example: an attractive investment can still be the wrong fit.

If an investor needs liquidity within a shorter period than the fund’s contractual term and possible extensions, the residency objective alone does not resolve that mismatch. The plan needs a different allocation, different liquidity arrangements or a different route. This is an illustrative decision question, not a client result.

Questions before you begin

Clarity about
the process.

Understand what the framework does, how it informs a decision and where specialist advice fits.

What is the MFG Consultants advisory framework?

It is the MFG Consultants Residency & Investment Alignment Framework: a structured review of regulatory alignment, capital structure and risk, liquidity and exit, governance and execution, and client objective fit. It connects the evidence with your investment, residency and family objectives.

Does an “Aligned” assessment guarantee an investment or a Golden Visa?

No. It means the evidence reviewed supports a fit with the agreed objectives, subject to identified risks and conditions. It does not guarantee returns, repayment, liquidity, residence approval, citizenship or processing times.

Can MFG Consultants review a fund I have already been offered?

Yes. Bring the proposal, current fund documents, fee information and your main questions. MFG Consultants can discuss a review against your objectives, including eligibility evidence, exposure, costs, liquidity and alternatives. The written proposal confirms the scope of the engagement.

How does MFG Consultants compare more than 90 funds?

We apply a common analytical framework across our working universe and narrow the comparison using the client’s profile. The number describes breadth of coverage, not a recommendation to invest in every fund or confirmation that all qualify for the Golden Visa. Current documents, availability and eligibility must be checked.

How is MFG Consultants compensated?

MFG Consultants receives client fees and remuneration from fund managers. Commission levels do not determine our selection. We explain the arrangements relevant to your case alongside the agreed services, costs and ongoing support before you proceed.

Does the framework cover cultural contributions and relocation needs?

Yes. The principles can inform route comparison, with evidence and economics adapted to the option. A cultural contribution is not a redeemable fund investment. Wider planning can include property, relocation, banking and legal coordination, with the exact services confirmed in your proposal.

Who handles legal and cross-border tax questions?

MFG Consultants coordinates with the relevant legal and tax professionals as needed. Legal eligibility, tax residency, reporting and jurisdiction-specific conclusions require specialist assessment of your circumstances. The engagement should make each professional’s role and responsibilities clear.
