Portugal Golden Visa: Melissa Gonçalves Interview and 2026 Context
Updated 1 October 2026. This page preserves the interview with Melissa Gonçalves in The Lisbon Sessions, Episode 4. The recording was shared in 2025; its historical statements should be assessed against the current rules before making a decision.
What has changed since the recording
Portugal's nationality framework changed in May 2026. Permanent residence and citizenship have separate requirements, and a five-year passport promise is not the current general rule. The Ministry of Justice explains the seven- and ten-year residence periods, further conditions and treatment of pending nationality proceedings.
The current investment decision
The fund route requires at least €500,000 in qualifying non-real-estate investment undertakings. Cultural support has a standard €250,000 threshold, with a €200,000 base only in qualifying low-density cases. Additional fees and project-related costs may apply.
Assess any investment discussed in a historical recording against its current documents and terms. A past return is not a forecast, and regulatory status does not guarantee capital or immigration approval. Review the manager, strategy, fees, risks and exit documentation before subscribing.
Use the recording alongside current sources
The useful follow-up is to identify the question relevant to your family: route selection, investment quality, documents, execution or longer-term status. Confirm the current answer against the official framework and your circumstances rather than relying on a recorded statement alone.
