Four destinations. Different objectives.

Choose the route.
Understand the commitment.

A residence permit, citizenship and tax residence are different outcomes. These starting points help frame a conversation; the right comparison includes your family, total costs, investment risk and ongoing obligations.

01 / EUROPEResidence

Portugal

A long-term connection to Portugal, with investment and cultural routes to explore.

Fund route
€500,000 in qualifying non-real-estate investment funds.
Cultural route
€250,000 standard contribution; €200,000 only where the legal low-density reduction applies.
Decision to make
Compare investment risk and liquidity with the non-recoverable nature of a cultural contribution.

Direct property purchases no longer qualify for the Golden Visa. Eligibility depends on the route and supporting documents; residence does not confer citizenship automatically.

Official requirements: AIMA ↗
02 / EUROPEResidence

Italy

An investor residence route for non-EU citizens considering a connection to Italy.

Investment choices
€250,000 in an innovative startup; €500,000 in an Italian limited company; or €2 million in government bonds.
Contribution alternative
€1 million for a qualifying philanthropic initiative.
Decision to make
Match the exposure and capital commitment to your wider portfolio and plans for Italy.

The programme offers a two-year investor visa. Eligibility restrictions apply. A property purchase alone is not one of these qualifying options, and any tax regime requires a separate assessment.

Official requirements: Italian ministry ↗
03 / CARIBBEANCitizenship

Saint Lucia

An established citizenship-by-investment programme with different economic commitments.

Contribution route
US$240,000 to the National Economic Fund for an applicant and up to three qualifying dependants, before fees.
Investment alternatives
US$300,000 in approved real estate, plus fees; or US$300,000 in non-interest-bearing government bonds held for five years, plus a US$50,000 administration fee and other charges.
Decision to make
Compare the total family cost, recoverability of capital and the risks of the selected option.

Family eligibility, due diligence and approval remain subject to programme rules. Discuss the appropriate route and authorised-agent application process before committing.

04 / SOUTH AMERICALaunch announced

Argentina

A newly announced citizenship-by-investment option to assess as implementation develops.

Announced routes
US$350,000 non-refundable Treasury contribution or US$800,000 in a government security created for the programme.
Family planning
The announcement provides additional contributions for spouses and children. A principal applicant, spouse and two children under 18 totals US$500,000 under the contribution model.
Decision to make
Confirm operational intake, final documentation, security terms and full costs before relying on a timetable.

Status checked 13 October 2026: the Government announced an opening during Q4 2026. This page does not confirm that applications are already being accepted. Approval is subject to official assessment.

Official announcement: 2 October 2026 ↗

Programme information reviewed on 13 October 2026. Figures are qualifying investment or contribution thresholds, not all-inclusive quotations. Government, due-diligence, legal, advisory, banking and family-related costs may apply. Rules and availability can change; current eligibility and terms must be confirmed for your case.

The questions that change the decision

The headline price
is only the beginning.

For a substantial cross-border decision, the value lies in understanding what the route means for the rest of your life and balance sheet.

Capital & economics

What is committed?

Separate sunk contributions and fees from invested capital. Examine currency exposure, loss scenarios, holding periods, exit restrictions and the liquidity you need elsewhere.

Family & time

Who fits the plan?

Check each family member’s eligibility, age and dependency rules, document requirements and presence obligations. Keep application timing separate from investment maturity.

Tax & implementation

What changes next?

Review tax residence, reporting and estate-planning questions with the relevant advisers. Agree who handles legal work, banking, investment execution and ongoing administration.

Your comparison should explain why a route fits — and what you give up.

MFG Consultants connects your objectives with the evidence, identifies unresolved questions and coordinates the relevant specialists. The written proposal sets out the service scope, responsibilities and commercial arrangements.

What services does MFG Consultants provide?

MFG Consultants provides investment and residency advisory, route comparison and 360° coordination for investment, residency and life in Portugal. Services include investment analysis, coordination with legal professionals and banks, property and relocation support. We also help clients explore the international options shown on this page, with the applicable local expertise and engagement scope confirmed for the case.

What is the difference between residence and citizenship by investment?

A residence route grants permission to reside subject to its rules; it does not automatically grant nationality or a passport. Citizenship-by-investment programmes assess an application for citizenship under their own legislation. Tax residence is a separate question in either case and should be reviewed against your circumstances.

Which destination is best for my family?

There is no universal best option. Start with whether you want to relocate, establish a residence connection or explore citizenship. Then compare family eligibility, total costs, capital risk, liquidity, presence obligations and tax implications. MFG Consultants helps structure that comparison around your priorities.

Are the amounts shown the total cost?

No. They are qualifying investment or contribution thresholds. Depending on the route, additional government, due-diligence, legal, advisory, banking and dependant costs apply. A useful proposal separates recoverable or at-risk invested capital from non-refundable contributions and fees.

Is Argentina’s citizenship-by-investment programme open?

On 2 October 2026, Argentina announced that the programme would receive applications during Q4 2026. As of this page’s review on 13 October 2026, operational intake is not confirmed here. Confirm the application opening, implementing requirements and full terms before making a commitment.

Does buying property qualify for the Portugal or Italy investor routes?

A direct property purchase no longer qualifies for Portugal’s Golden Visa, and it is not one of Italy’s listed Investor Visa options. Saint Lucia has an approved-real-estate citizenship route, but programme approval is project-specific. An ordinary property purchase should never be assumed to confer immigration eligibility.

Can MFG Consultants help if I already have advisers?

Yes. Tell us which legal, tax, investment or property professionals are already involved. We can discuss the analysis and coordination you need, identify gaps and agree clear responsibilities. The written proposal confirms the scope and fees before work proceeds.

How should I prepare for a first conversation?

Outline your preferred outcome, family circumstances, intended relocation, available budget and liquidity needs. For Portugal Golden Visa planning, the guide and Profiler help organise your questions. Avoid sending sensitive identity or financial documents until the team confirms the appropriate process.
